The Pines at Heartwood is pleased to announce that our very own resident’s, Theresa Hajos and Helena Weaver’s art pieces were selected for the 2018 “Art from the Heart” wall calendar! This program, put on by the Foundation for Quality Care and the New York State Health Facilities/New York State Center for Assisted Living, was launched as a way to honor the vibrant contributions and creative spirit of resident’s all across the state. A panel of independent jurors chose 13 pieces from 105 submissions provided by nursing home and assisted living residents throughout New York. We are looking forward to seeing the beautiful artwork that Theresa and Helena created in the calendar next year!
The Pines at Poughkeepsie is pleased to announce that our very own Carlos Berroa was honored at the New York State Health Facilities Association/New York State Center for Assisted Living’s 68th Annual Convention and Expo Awards Banquet! He was a recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award. The Volunteer of the Year Program recognizes outstanding volunteers serving in skilled nursing facilities.
Carlos, a retired corrections officer, has volunteered at our center for the past year, and has spent more than 400 hours at our facility. Carlos has become a vital member of the recreation department. He is our facility’s grill master, dealer for the roulette table, and is happy to be the muscle when setting up for activities. Our residents and staff alike have come to know him well and he is an expected and anticipated presence at many weekly events. Carlos’ hard work and dedication to our residents is outstanding.
We feel blessed to have such a wonderful person volunteering in our center. Congratulations Carlos!
