Members of the National Health Care Associates Inc. (NHCA) team gathered at the Annual Meeting for the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities/Connecticut Center for Assisted Living (CAHCF/CCAL) on September 21, where they received several awards. NHCA is a network of affiliated skilled nursing, rehabilitation and assisted living centers throughout the northeast, fourteen of which are throughout Connecticut.
Honors included the “2021 CAHCF/CCAL Distinguished Service Award” granted to Marvin Ostreicher, President, NHCA, as well as Bronze “Commitment to Quality Awards” by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) for Riverside Center for Health and Rehabilitation in East Hartford and Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Fairfield.
“The Distinguished Service Award is the Association’s highest honor,” said Matthew Barrett, President and CEO of CAHCF/CCAL. “I can’t underscore how Marvin has brought all of this experience and leadership and intelligence into the sort of steady hand and guidance he has provided to the Association’s Board of Directors as we navigated these most unprecedented and challenging waters during the public health emergency. His leadership was calm, his approach was deliberate and the decisions the Association made along the way were carefully guided and can largely be attributed to Marvin’s leadership. And with that, and for those reasons, and even more I am delighted to present the Distinguished Service Award to Marvin Ostreicher.”
Ostreicher began his career as a nursing home administrator in New York and soon after, became a consultant to long-term care owners and operators. He founded National Health Care Associates Inc. in 1984, with a mission the company still stands true to today—to provide its residents and their families with superior care delivered by staff dedicated to the principles of kindness, compassion, service, and excellence. Today, nearly 40 affiliated skilled nursing centers make up the NHCA network with locations in Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine.
“I have worked with Marvin for 11 years and can attest first-hand that he is well deserving of this prestigious award,” said Kevin Prisco, Connecticut Regional Director of Operations, NHCA. “Marvin truly cares about the residents and employees of the National Health Care Associates network and strives to provide the best care possible to the residents, along with a positive working environment for staff. Marvin has had a truly significant positive impact on our industry over the course of his career.”
Riverside and Ludlowe Centers both received “2021 Bronze Commitment to Quality Awards.” This distinction recognizes the Centers for developing foundational pathways towards continuous quality improvement. Both Centers have taken initial steps to achieving performance excellence by creating systematic, sustainable, and person-centered care and services.
Karen Chadderton, Administrator at Riverside Center and Patricia Page, Administrator at Ludlowe Center stepped up to receive the awards.
“On behalf of the National Health Care Associates team, I would like to extend my thanks to CAHCF/CCAL and AHCA/NCAL for these recognitions,” said Ostreicher. “I’m honored to receive the Distinguished Service Award, and am so proud of Karen Chadderton and Patricia Page for leading their teams to a level where these quality awards are reflective of their commitment to excellence.”
