Eliot Center for Health & Rehabilitation Named Vohra 2020 Center of Excellence in Wound Management
Eliot Center for Health & Rehabilitation, an affiliate of National Health Care Associates, has been certified by Vohra Wound Physicians as a Center of Excellence for Wound Management. Only 10% of Vohra’s skilled nursing facility partners have qualified for this annual certification.
On earning this national certification, Mark Nugent, Administrator at Eliot Center for Health and Rehabilitation, said, “The wound care team led by Dr. Rao could not be more deserving. This partnership allows us to take in residents with complex, and chronic wounds, and we feel confident in the ability to heal them.”
The Center of Excellence in Wound Management was created to highlight and identify skilled nursing facilities with a superior wound management program. Eliot Center for Health and Rehabilitation earned this annual distinction by achieving the following criteria:
- Less than 1% wound-related hospitalization rate.
- Vohra wound physician rounding with an average wound census of more than five patients per week.
- Designated VOHRA Wound Certified Nurse with availability seven days a week.
- Regular team meetings with a focus on Quality and Process Improvement (QAPI).
As part of its partnership, a Vohra wound physician visits Eliot Center for Health and Rehabilitation weekly to treat residents with wound and skin issues, reducing the need to send residents to wound care centers or hospitals. The wound physician works as part of a multispecialty team of primary care physicians, physical therapists, and staff nurses to ensure residents receive excellent wound care.
Eliot Center for Health and Rehabilitation places a top priority on healing and rehabilitating residents to return home. The Center admits patients with chronic or complex wounds because it is equipped to treat patients with its specialized wound management program.
