Preferred Therapy Solutions, Hebrew Center for Health and Rehabilitation and LIVE EVERYDAY Partner to Seek Accreditation of Connecticut’s first Physical Therapy Residency in Neurology Program

(April 29, 2021 – West Hartford, CT): Preferred Therapy Solutions (PTS) and Hebrew Center for Health and Rehabilitation, an affiliate of National Health Care Associates, entered into a cooperative agreement with LIVE EVERY DAY outpatient clinic to offer a newly developed Physical Therapy Residency in Neurology program and seek to become the first accredited program of its kind in Connecticut.

This post-professional clinical residency program is open to licensed or licensed-eligible physical therapists who have applied through the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education. One clinical resident per year will be accepted. Accreditation status will be reached upon the first resident’s completion of the one-year program.

The program provides advanced rehabilitative services to patients following stroke, traumatic brain injury and progressive neurological disorders. It includes one-on-one treatment sessions with the patient and the treating clinician, didactic instruction and problem-solving sessions, as well as clinical rounds and other planned educational experiences.

A team of therapists specializing in geriatric patient care, is led by Dr. Arun Nehrujee, PT, DPT, rehabilitation director at Hebrew Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Dr. Nehrujee serves as the program’s PTS Residency Liaison and is certified in LSVT BIG – an exercise program specifically geared towards treating patients with Parkinson’s Disease. Dr. Maggie Daingerfield, PT, DPT, NCS, a LIVE EVERYDAY physical therapist, and one of few certified Neurology Specialists in Connecticut, also helps to guide the program.

“We are pleased with this collaboration with Live Everyday as it supports our company’s mission and advances our professional clinical practice.  We are extremely proud of our therapists at Hebrew Home and will continue to invest in the professional development of all of our Therapists,” said Liz Almeida-Sanborn, President of Preferred Therapy Solutions.

“We are thrilled that even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to get the program up and running,” said Dr. Nehrujee. “Dr. Daingerfield and I collaborate with the PTS therapists to offer patients unique and effective interventions to clinical problems. We look forward to welcoming our first residential student and becoming one step closer being Connecticut’s first accredited Physical Therapy Residency in Neurology program.”
